Yorkway Redevelopment

Where dilapidated WWII-era apartments once stood, Baltimore County has created an opportunity for new single-family housing to be developed adjacent to Dundalk's National Register Historic District.

WHAT'S BEING BUILT:

66 Single-Family Homes

Developer John Vontran has teamed up with Ryan Homes to build 66 houses.  Models offered range in size from 2,200 square feet to over 3,000 square feet.

YorkwayProposedSitePlanJanuary09All the houses will feature brick fronts as standard, in keeping with historic Dundalk's architecture.  They offer up to four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, attached or detached garages, walk-in closets, kitchen islands, sunrooms, and many more options.

Baltimore County Invests In Dundalk's Future

Yorkway's redevelopment is a testament to the persistence and commitment of County officials and community leaders over more than a decade.

Thanks are due to the Ruppersberger and Smith administrations, to Mary Harvey and the Office of Community Conservation, to all the members of the County Council including our 7th District Councilman, John Olszewski, Sr., the Baltimore County Police Department, and to the State of Maryland.

Baltimore County acquired the Yorkway apartment buildings from multiple owners over the course of several years and demolished them at a cost of over $20 million.  Built during the WWII housing crunch, over time these apartments had suffered from deferred maintenance and poor tenant screening, and had become a locus for crime in the community.  Their demolition marked a turning point in Dundalk's revitalization, and new homebuyers will see the benefits of this investment in historic Dundalk's walkable town center, parks, schools, and great access to the entire region.
